99% Oxidized Purple Oolong – Bold, Rich Indonesian Oolong

Our bold and distinctive 99% Oxidized Purple Oolong is a wonderful tea-tasting experience. Grown in Indonesia, it's a rare treat from a region better known for black tea, and its near-complete oxidation gives it a depth and richness unlike any other oolong.

The highly oxidized leaves are a deep purple color, yet they brew a thick, rich, caramel-colored liquor. The flavor is solid and complex, with notes of cinnamon, coffee, musk and amber over undertones of rich earthiness — a rare combination to find in a single tea.

Tasting Notes

  • Dry leaf: deep purple
  • Liquor: thick, rich caramel
  • Flavor: cinnamon, coffee, musk and amber
  • Undertones: rich earthiness
  • Finish: bold, warm and lingering

Why You'll Love It

This is a strong oolong, much bolder than lightly oxidized styles, and true enthusiasts will love its complexity. It's perfect for multiple infusions — as with any good tea, the flavors develop and become more complex with each steeping.

  • A rare Indonesian oolong
  • 99% oxidized for bold depth
  • Cinnamon, coffee, musk and amber
  • Rewards multiple infusions

How to Enjoy

Brew it gongfu-style or in a teapot and enjoy many infusions to discover its evolving layers. It's a satisfying alternative to coffee in the morning and pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, spiced baked goods and roasted nuts.

Bold, rich and wonderfully complex, 99% Oxidized Purple Oolong is a must-try for adventurous tea lovers. It's also a fascinating gift for tea explorers.

Smooth caramel! Gongfu @ 90°C: 10s rinse 15s initial brew and then add 10s per steep, stretch, stretching out to 15 in the later steeps, good for 7 to 8 steeps!

Smooth, full, earthy. A bit of saltiness or umami. Love, comfort, groundedness. My new favorite. If I was able, I would buy out the stock.

Not bad at all. I find it a bit musky for my taste but I can tell it's very good quali-tea.

I have been trying some new oolong teas lately, and today I hit the jackpot. I used two tsp of tea leaves with about 8 oz of water. Brewing the same tea over and over I got 7 cups of wonderful, flavorful tea. It's very good with a meal, as well as alone, because it has enough flavor to hold it own. I think I found a new favorite!
