Pu'erh Ripe Menghai Tuo Cha – Mini Single-Serve Pu-erh Tea Nests

Enjoy authentic pu-erh with zero measuring and zero fuss. Ripe Tuo Cha Pu'erh is made of ripe pu-erh tea leaves that are individually compressed into adorable mini bowl-shaped "tuo cha" and wrapped as single servings. Produced in Yunnan province, the home of pu-erh, these little tea nests are as charming as they are convenient — perfect for home, the office or travel.

Ripe pu-erh is known for being rich and full-bodied, with notes of dark molasses, earth and dark cocoa. These tuo cha are fermented enough to remove the bitter sharpness of young raw pu-erh, yet still capture the lively cha qi that raw pu-erh fans love. When infused with water, the tiny bowl slowly loses its form and releases its goodness into the liquid, creating a soothing, deeply satisfying elixir.

Tasting Notes

  • Aroma: wonderful earthy, smoky tea soup
  • Liquor: deep, dark copper
  • Flavor: rich and full-bodied with dark molasses, earth and dark cocoa
  • Aftertaste: mellow, earthy and savory-sweet
  • Texture: smooth and comforting

Why You'll Love It

Tuo cha offers all the depth of traditional pressed pu-erh in a simple, portion-perfect format. There's no need to break apart a large cake — just unwrap one mini nest and enjoy. Watching it gently loosen and unfurl in hot water is part of the fun, making it a truly rewarding way to enjoy pu-erh.

  • Individually wrapped single servings — each tea "bowl" weighs approximately 6–7 g
  • Smooth ripe pu-erh without the sharpness of young raw teas
  • Rich notes of molasses, earth and dark cocoa
  • Ideal for travel, the office or a quick pu-erh fix at home

How to Enjoy

Drop a mini tuo cha into your teapot, gaiwan or favorite mug and enjoy several infusions as the leaves open and the flavor deepens. It makes a smooth, grounding coffee alternative in the morning and a comforting cup after dinner.

These mini tuo cha also make a delightful stocking stuffer or gift for curious tea drinkers. Smooth, rich and endlessly convenient, Pu'erh Ripe Menghai Tuo Cha is pu-erh made simple.

in a gaiwan it gets strong fast, but even though it's not to me the best of tastes, it's still quite decent - and it's quite useful to carry around for work or travel

SO I really took a gamble on this pouch of tuochas from Tealyra. I was real worried they would be a gross type of ripe puerh. BUT THEY ARE GREAT. Really, they are exactly what I look for from these tuochas. Very dark, very deep, tastes like dark chocolate, coffee and rich dark bread and NO negative flavor characteristics. Three great full mugs — I really should have tried for a fourth. Interestingly, EACH steep had this dusky silt of puerh in the bottom – not sure if that means it’s a lower quality for Puerh People, but to me it made for a richer cup and exactly what I wanted. The tuocha also immediately lost its shape on the first steep, which I also don’t know if that means it’s a high or low quality tuocha… but VERY happy with these! They are perfect for my flavor preferences! I would gladly buy more of them. I think there were 15 tuochas in the 100 gram pouch I bought. They are a larger size tuocha compared to most.

I use T-SAC's, #2, available on line, stapled after filling with two toucha in 10 OZ water glass, In 1100 Watt microwave for 168 seconds, casting off first 15 second immersion, then do same 168 second microwave heating immersion to drink safely casting off old dust etc... After ten seconds color will get dark with same T-SAC, second time around. You can do same way for about 6 times, but you have to use tweezers to pull out T-SAC from heated water & put back in, dunking every two seconds. Be patients & dunk 20 to 40 times. Even reverse T-SAC. As you progress the tea gets sweeter! Very enjoyable. Only for the patient & experienced Pu-er tea lovers.
